Merel Wallis De Vries - Tracking river cleanliness

Merel gets excited about puzzles, so analysing big data sets is right up her street. She holds a Masters in Global Business & Sustainability and a Bachelors in China studies, and has experience in understanding a large variety of data. In her spare time, Merel has been part of Leiden University’s delegation to the Harvard Model United Nations.

She has been working at Promatix, a Tableau partner, for just over a year and talked to us about a clean river live data tracking project.


Palermo Moyo - Working with Diverse Stakeholders

Palermo is a Senior Revenue Management Analyst at Hertz who specialises in data analytics and visualisation.

Her experience and passion for easy to understand data insight, has meant that working with Tableau has produced contributed to the incremental productivity of the Revenue department at Hertz. Outside work, Palermo enjoys the gym, cooking, dinner parties and travelling.


She talked to us about working with diverse groups of stakeholders in a Tableau environment.


Jamie Withington

Jamie is currently Senior Data and Insights Analyst at QSES He has been using tableau for over 2 years and outside of work runs a record label, label parties in Leeds and London, DJs and even uses tableau to track his record’s performance.

He talked to us about a student application progress tracking dashboard he developed.


Stephen Hsu

Steven is a freelance data analyst who loves using MS SQL, Python and Tableau.
He has a degree in computer science and loves using data to help the world be a better place.

He talked to us about using Tableau with MS SQL server.


Alexander Fridriksson

Alexander’s data skills got started through studying philosophy, politics and economics (PPE), and his storytelling skills were developed through theatre, public speaking and a Dale Carnegie training program.

He has worked in graphic design and marketing, where he came across Tableau. It totally blew his mind, so he decided to attend The Information Lab Data School where is he currently in training.

He talked to us about creativity in data analysis and visualisation.


Clara Triboul

Clara has been living in London for 3 years and working as a Strategic Marketing Analyst for Penguin for 2. What she loves about her job is to break down complex concepts and make them accessible.

Outside of work she loves reading obviously, but also cooking, rope climbing, pottery and going on an adventure, especially when it can happen close to the Arctic circle.

She talked to us about an ebook pricing deal dashboard she developed.

Jodi is a gin loving, football loathing, drum playing masseuse in training Kiwi, who’s also a senior analyst at Channel 4.


Martina zaccaron - Tufte's good data viz practices

Martina is a Business Analyst with experience in data analytics. She is passionate about data visualisation as a language to explain reality in a beautiful and effective way.


Also, she can't get enough of pizza, chocolate and data.


Yin Kelly - Making sankey charts in tableau

Yin is a visualisation developer at Sandtable making bespoke data visualisations and user interfaces for a variety of clients. She is passionate about designing engaging data experiences and enjoys tinkering with visualization tools and technologies.


Nisa marques - how to gather requirements

Nisa is an InterWorks Analytics Consultant that has been contributing to the Tableau community since 2016. She has several ‘Viz of the days' to her name as well as being a Tableau featured author and is best known for her insightful visualisations and great design skills.


emma Schul - exploring chart types

Emma is currently working as a learning analyst at Fuse Universal, which is a tech company providing an e-learning platform for businesses. She moved to London from Amsterdam to do a PhD in Neurosciences at UCL, which she completed last year. In he free time she likes to play the violin, which has taken her across the world on tours with various orchestras.


Nora Ann Weststrate - Preparing data

Nora completed her PhD degree in synthetic chemistry during which she was exposed to big data analysis. She came across Tableau in the process of joining The Information Lab and completed her Tableau training through The Data School. Nora is currently placed at IAG Cargo at Heathrow as part of the Business Intelligence team.

Yulia is a Senior BI analyst at GoCardless and an ex-Googler. Curious about data and visualization, she enjoys solving analytical business challenges in tech startups. In her spare time climbs short walls.


Phillip Law - Shape files for Tableau tube map

Head of Insight at Your Favourite Story - The Product Launch Experts. With a background of a PhD in modelling complex non-liner systems and is now applying this to customer contextual data to drive growth.

Hope is a Digital Analyst at Channel 4, responsible for research and insight on All 4. Previously, she worked in Marketing at Channel 4 and Sky, and as an Analyst at the Bank of England. She studied English at University, and her love of both numbers and words has made her passionate about translating complex data into clear, meaningful messages. In her spare time she loves films, pub quizzes, and playing for London’s keenest amateur netball team.

Joe discovered Tableau while working for the Higher Education Statistics Agency. After 3 years there, he joined the 7th cohort of The Information Labs Data School. He is currently working with the National Trust.


susan wang - iterating towards client needs

Susan is a business adviser at EY helping her clients to transform their business, accelerate inclusive growth, and make insightful capital allocation decisions in a digital age. Susan grew up in Wuhan China and lived in the US for 7 years before moving to London in 2017. She likes travelling, dancing, and football.


Tom Pilgrem - efficient use of space in dashboards

Tom is a trainee Tableau & Alteryx consultant at The Information Lab. A member of the latest data school cohort. He has been using Tableau regularly now for  4 months and prior to discovering Tableau was working in GIS and environmental modelling. He’s excited to get involved in the Tableau community here in London.

UMAR HASSAN - DATA VIZ FROM THE NEWS

Umar is a recent graduate from Birmingham City University in Media and Communication, Umar discovered Tableau through a friend in 2017 and the rest was history.


GRAHAM ROGAN-HILL - A TABLEAU MAKEOVER

Graham works at Barclaycard as a Data Solutions Manager. He’s been working with Tableau for almost a year, and loves football, NFL and baseball.


CHARLIE DAFFERN - DASHBOARD ACTIONS

Charlie spent four years studying geography, with a focus on quantifying vegetation change using satellite imagery, before joining The Information Lab's Data School in October 2017. She is also an international ultimate frisbee player. 


SIMON RUNC - CONTROLLING YOUR AXES

Simon is a Visual Data Analyst at Atheon Analytics, where he humanises data for the retail sector. He started using Tableau in 2014 and was made a Tableau Community Ambassador in 2015. He attributes most of his Tableau knowledge to his engagement in this wonderful resource.

Can is a technology consultant focused on data and analytics. He has lived in several countries before ending up in London. He enjoys pretty visualisations and good data stories.


BENEDETTA TAGLIAFERRI - THE TABLEAU FOUNDATION

Bene studied Business and Finance in Florence and Bologna. In 2015 she moved to London to develop her tech skills and became enthusiastic about data. She graduated The Information Lab data school last year and has now joined them as a permanent consultant.

Anna is a Tableau and Alteryx consultant at The Information Lab’s Data School. 

Before discovering Tableau, Anna studied a masters in online journalism. And has been spent the past 4 years writing content for the web on travel, politics human rights, media, and most recently dataviz.

Gillian is a senior data visualisation analyst at Kurt Geiger. She also loves Dachshunds.

Data has been a part of Ian’s life since he could read the weekend’s football results and understand how a league table works. Halfway through a degree in Civil Engineering he realised that different mixes of concrete and steel weren't for him and he left last year and joined the Data School where's he's been learning Tableau since. COLIN JARVIS - ANALYSING HOW LONG EVENTS TAKE

Colin comes from a mixed data warehousing and analytics background, and fell into data visualisation as a result of his struggles to find ways to communicate the results of his data discovery work in a compelling way. His previous visualisation experience was in Spotfire using mapping and shapefiles, but he has taken on Tableau full time since early this year. Ainize is a Commercial Analyst for Global during the day and Consultant for ISGlobal at night. She is passionate about analytics, decision making, data, frameworks, and having an impact through numbers. So far, she has worked in Bilbao, Utrecht, Barcelona, Chicago and London and loved each one. See her demo dashboard here.


MARK EDWARDS - MAKING SENSE OF MAPS FOR USERS

Mark is a relatively recent convert to Tableau. Without much cause to use it in work, he spent a lot of time immersed in it at home, and quickly discovered the wonderful online Tableau Community.
 
Publishing his work in Tableau Public helped him find a Tableau-related career-move and he's now the Head of Data Visualisation at CACI.


NATASHA KURAKINA - DESIGNING FOR MOBILE

Natasha moved to London two years ago to complete a Masters in Finance. After graduating, she discovered Tableau and has never gone back to finance.

Natasha likes strategy games and is a consultant analyst at the Information Lab.


JOANNA HEMINGWAY - HOW TO ACE THE TABLEAU EXAM

Joanna is a data analyst at Just Eat, and has just passed the Tableau Qualified Associate Exam with flying colours.

 


PABLO SAENZ DE TEJADA - USING DATA TO COUNTERACT BIAS

Pablo is a Spanish sociologist who moved to London in 2015 to join The Information Lab. 

Before this, he spent 8 years working as a market research quantitative consultant for clients from healthcare to IT and retail.

Pinar is a food analyst at Euromonitor and a free diver. Her favourite place for free diving is Indonesia.

Mark is a computer scientist turned data wrangler, who has previously worked in education, finance and academia. He is now co-ordinating data-driven research at IAVI, a global non-profit dedicated to HIV vaccine development.
